Reviews

“We had the MacNut crusted fish and it was very good and shared a Hula Pie for dessert!”
“Beautiful setting that turned into one of the best lunches we have had here on Maui.”
“We had the Poke Rolls as an appetizer--I highly recommend them.”
Pros
  • Duke's is fantastic...
  • BUT, their Mai-Tais, Lava Flows, and beer selection is great, and their food is wonderful...
  • Surprise, surprise, they have excellent staff there as well...
  • It's great...
  • There is something like 1000 restaurants in SF and we have not dined at 5 star restaurants but we have paid good money and gotten very good cuisine and superb service at some places in SF...
Cons
  • who the hell rated this a two $ restaurant?
  • The side items were a pesto rice ball and the rice was undercooked and the veggies were cooked bok choi which he said was the worst he's ever had...
  • Pie was pretty good, but given the poor quality of the expensive meal...
  • I've never had a bad experience...
  • Not the best food we had on Maui, but the convenience was great and nothing was bad...
  • This location is wonderful very open and spacious live music great views totally unlike Dukes in Waikiki which is awful!
Service & Staff
  • I can't count the number of families I saw treat their wait staffer rudely...
  • Finally, DO get poolside service...
  • Second, we dined at 8:15 on a Monday night but really, if no one is interested in either cooking the food properly or wanting to wait on people (giving them time to enjoy their cocktails and appetizers without wanting to get the next step in the meal so you can drop the check and go home) then close on Monday nights...
  • I'm certain we would have found another establishment that actually wanted to serve quality food with quality service...
  • Our waiter was very nice and prompt, but he was pushing the appetizers on us along with drinks and seemed impatient when it came to ordering our food...
Food & Drinks
  • We dropped 120,00 for 2 people w/ two of the lamest cocktail drinks we've had on Maui...
  • We ordered two cocktails and before we even got the drinks he was back to our table asking if we wanted to order appetizers or salads...
  • I felt pressured so we ordered the Layered Seafood Cocktail which was good but I don't recall finding any lobster in w/ the shrimp...
  • Duke's has a lot to learn about food preparation...
  • When we finished our meal our waiter came by and picked up the dishes and we had a card which was an offer for a free slice of pie so our waiter took the card and asked if we wanted a dessert drink or coffee and my partner ordered a cup of coffee...
  • The coffee was a bit bitter...
  • but I drink shade-grown organic coffee and have no idea what they use here...
Atmosphere
  • turn the music down a notch...
  • The live music is a very nice touch, and the wait staff is extremely friendly and professional...
  • A few forgettable dishes aside, the fish, service, atmosphere, and view are unbeatable...
  • Lots of parking at the resort and you just keep walking through the resort, past the pools and when you get to the beach you will hear the music and see the torches!
Prices
  • I'm wondering if anyone has eaten at this establishment for dinner because the prices for the main courses are all over 23,00 a plate...
  • It was OK but soggy there are so many better options but this was on the cheap side (9,75) and tastefully so...
  • My bill was $90, which is ok if the good is amazing, but it was far from it...
  • It was worth it...
Summary
  • it just seemed like a big disappointment overall Nothing special about our dinner just a real let down on our last night in Maui...
  • I came here off of a recommendation from my boss who also loves to travel...
  • However, her only other recommendations included fish, which I'm allergic too, so I thought I'd take a chance!
  • I'd recommend the Hawaiian Punch...
  • A definite would recommend...
  • Would love to go back and will recommend to anyone I know who is visiting maui soon...
  • Everything was really good and we had to come back for a second visit to have the Hula pie because we were too full from dinner lol...
