Reviews

“My favorites are the tomato, basil and feta pasta salad, pesto pasta and the brie with bread.”
“Quite possibly the best chicken salad ever and you can't go wrong with any of the sides.”
“Chicken Salad, Pimento Cheese, Deviled Eggs, Pasta Salad, French Bread.”
Pros
  • A nice cafe and store that serves an upscale lunch menu...
  • I had the prosciutto panini with tomato bisque soup...
  • It was as good as it sounds...
  • It was one of those menus that everything looked good, but I'm a big fan of salads (like in the pasta, chicken, egg style salads)...
  • Oh man was that soup good...
Cons
  • I've never had anything bad there...
  • For a European cafe style set-up, there are an awful lot of American or even Southern comfort items (pimento cheese, deviled eggs, tuna salad, the aforementioned chicken salad)...
  • I'm surprised by how consistently I've had bad experiences with their cashiers and that the store doesn't seem to notice or care...
Service & Staff
  • Great place for lunch or brunch or breakfast or basically any meal between the hours of 8a-345p!
  • If it's the weekend be prepared to wait...
  • While you are waiting go ahead and pick up that new Le Creuset french oven you have been admiring...
  • Service was friendly and fast, so you don't have to worry about waiting if you have a short lunch...
  • Service is fast and friendly...
Food & Drinks
  • We asked for platic cup for our girl which she didn t bring, we asked for a side of pasta that comes with one of the sandwich that she didn t bring we asked for some milk for the coffee and she brought a big wine glass of milk and charged us $2,50 for it...
  • You may need some time to roam around in here, there's a lot to take in with all the food and kitchen supplies and who knows what else!
  • I used all the bread to dip into the delicious red pepper and gouda soup...
  • Nice variety of tasty sandwiches and sides!
  • Because I couldn't look at the menu, we were going to get a coffee to go, but the staff didn't smile, make eye contact, and treated us like we were an inconvenience...
  • I was so glad we went across the street for coffee instead which saved the day and made up for the experience here...
  • I'm so glad I did because that sandwich was crazy delicious...
Atmosphere
  • Great atmosphere and the shop is incredible with fresh prepared foods and an amazing wine shop...
  • It's kind of just a regular diner with slightly above average diner food and an adjoining shop where you can buy wine and knicknacks ala some sort of home decor store...
  • The Gourmet Shop is the place to go for a quick sandwich in a casual, cafe-like atmosphere...
  • The atmosphere is very quaint - lots of natural light and country decor...
Prices
  • The prices were so astronomically high ($7 for two small non-homemade chocolate squares; $50 for a plastic mixing bowl set) and most of it could be ordered online or purchased at World Market for less...
  • The wait is worth it though!
  • The sweet tea is good, and the only drawback is you pay by the drink if you're drinking soda...
  • At $10,50, I think it was the most expensive sandwich on the menu - and the only one that didn't come with a side...
Summary
  • Everything I've ever eaten here has been fantastic...
  • While I liked the shop component of The Gourmet Shop, I can't recommend it for lunch because I never got a chance to eat there...
  • They have some sandwich recommendations or you can build your own...
  • Pretty casual spot, I've been here for breakfast before and recommend it for a quick lunch or brunch...
  • The service was slow, so you're starving by the time your food finally gets there...
  • However, if you want to order a cheese plate, I highly recommend it...
  • In summary, the Gourmet Shop does solid deli staples with either slightly Southern or European twists...
