Reviews

“I have never had a sticky bun make it through the night and still be so moist and delicious.”
“Pickup a loaf of the amazing sourdough and get it sliced for sandwiches.”
“The Cherry jalapeno Jam was awesome, sweet, tart, and I like the spicy kick at the end.”
Pros
  • Please get the little pastry custard cup 'n a latte and remain happy all day...
  • Pickup a loaf of the amazing sourdough and get it sliced for sandwiches...
  • Also, cheerful workers with or without piercings could be the secret to keeping good employees like the ones here...
  • Some of the other baked goods looked delicious, but I didn't try them...
  • I've had an ongoing love/hate relationship with B&N...
Cons
  • I don't think I've ever had anything bad here...
  • Veggie frittata was decent, if poorly named - the only veggie was spinach...
  • Not bad, just nothing special...
  • You know how sometimes a bad phone connection makes the person you're talking to sound far away?
  • We also split a brownie, which was holy shit delicious, and a jelly doughnut, which to the DISCERNING was FLUFFY and oh so yummy...
  • I happened to be in Chicago running away from a restaurant that had poor service and decided to stop in the super cute bakery and cheese cafe...
Service & Staff
  • But first, here's some of the reasons I keep on returning: -Sticky buns great and have improved, much softer even when purchased later in the day (One time I complained about a sticky bun being stale and was told it was because I bought it in the late morning and should buy them earlier in the day...
  • ) -Sandwiches are excellent (but the hummus sandwiches become soggy after 1:30 in the afternoon, so please don't sell them or make fresher sandwiches for later in the day)Constructive Feedback (said with love)-Staff attitudes (a smile, greeting and a little energy would go a long way); half the employees I literally want to shake and check their pulses...
  • And if you want to really take it to the next level, when there's a long wait, acknowledge the customers in line to let them know you'll be with them in a minute instead of pretending they're not there...
  • 6 stars for the employees and their knowledge and friendliness...
  • Our first time I got the vanilla latte with an apricot scorn and she got the cafe au lait and the breakfast sandwich...
Food & Drinks
  • Ooo, and the little egg sandwiches are perfectly tasty and neat to eat on the road...
  • don't forget to order it over the espresso machine before you get to the tasty treats...
  • Prices are pretty high for the quality/taste...
  • Wake up, drink some espresso and just pretend for a moment you're happy...
  • Go on the weekends for their deliciously amazing croissants and coffee...
  • The scones are delicious - the crispy, rich, flaky texture is unrivaled...
  • 117 stars for the quality of food...
Atmosphere
  • I really enjoy the music and old time videos that play on the tvs...
  • ) The Men's room was nicely decorated and felt heated...
  • Sounds of Christmas music filled the empty space whilst other customers were typing away on their PDA's and laptop computers...
  • When I did, it was a Sunday morning and I relished the calm atmosphere and lovely views from the large windows--also the small outdoor area...
Prices
  • This place is kind of a trek from my apartment (I live by the lake), but totally worth it!
  • Also, the $3 baguettes are really not baguettes- they are "ficelles" which are much narrower than baguettes and are not really suited for making sandwiches (like baguettes are)...
  • For my combo I paid around $11 dollars...
  • Had I left out the sticky bun, I would have spent somewhere less than $9 dollars with tax which is still less than the corporate chain Starbucks just up the block...
Summary
  • After driving by this place quite a few times, I finally decided to check it out with my sister and we were instantly hooked...
  • Luckily, I was able to finally try it!
  • Highly recommend...
